NFL 2025 season: Week six
Live coverage features text commentary for the weekend matchups on multiple platforms, beginning with Denver Broncos v New York Jets in London (from 14:00 BST). Additionally, audio coverage can be heard through select stations covering a separate game (from 21:00 BST).
It's week six of the NFL season , after recent talk regarding the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles being a potential Super Bowl match-up, they both surrendered their perfect starts.
Striking during those contests were the amount of infractions both committed. The Eagles committed them in key moments so they essentially defeated themselves having led by two touchdowns entering the final quarter against Denver, who play in London this Sunday.
However it proved good to see that Denver's QB the rookie managed to overcome the shortfall and then lead three scoring drives on three possessions in the fourth quarter, securing the game 21-17.
Denver boast the top defender with CB Pat Surtain II. They rank first in red zone defence, whereas the Eagles lead the league in red zone offence, and the Broncos won that battle.
They executed the Eagles' number regarding simulated pressure. They did not necessarily rushing extra pass rushers instead they could position two LBs in the 'A' gap then withdrawing them and send a nickel off the edge.
At the start in the campaign, we said during a show how Denver might emerge as this season's dark horses. They ended the previous year strongly and did a good job in continuing that momentum.
Could Denver be this season's dark horses?
New TE their tight end has excelled big and new RB JK Dobbins is a guy the team trusts. He's currently fifth league-wide in ground gains (over 400) and tied for fourth for rushing touchdowns (4).
I love how head coach Sean Payton has "RUN IT!" prominently on his call sheet.
That shows that Denver represent a squad that wants to prioritize the run, since one can do a lot off the back of that. It slows down the pass rush while maintains in favourable situations.
It's also helped QB the young passer, who entered into the league as a first-round selection last year, passing for 29 TDs – just behind a star QB for the rookie record (31 back in 2020).
Other elite QBs possess the arm strength to throw all over, but they lack in the same way that Nix has. He has exceptional passing ability, which is different, plus he's so athletic.
His assets are his movement, the capacity to pass while moving, as well as using varied release points to make throws as he moves outside protection, on rollouts. He can throw that layered pass over the middle and past defenders.
As a rookie QB, at 25, he's got great poise in the pocket and is not bothered by extra rushers. He aims to avoid a sack whenever possible and is able pass under pressure. He has sharp intelligence and is quick to decide.
When you constantly rush it eats up time and forces the defence to be in play for longer, and when you have a mobile QB the defence must defend the field downfield side to side. This proves draining.
Nix has bitten back at Payton during games sometimes and I think the coach likes that fire, that he's such a competitor. In my view it's exciting for him to coach a rookie QB who's kind of like moldable clay. The coach can truly build something up the way he desires to shape him. I believe it's a unique opportunity for the coach.
The head coach has won a Super Bowl and now passed a legend for career NFL wins (173, tying for 14th). He's seen it all. In my opinion the achievements Denver are having offensively is largely down to his leadership, his schemes, his game sense – and the pairing with the QB aids make him what he is.
You wouldn't want a more qualified person guiding you, to help you through difficult moments and build self-belief.
I have faith in Denver's defence, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. But is the team good enough to face a top squad at its best? Since that wasn't a Super Bowl performance from Philadelphia last Sunday.
Right now, it's unlikely the Broncos are elite. They're performing better than most, that's a solid position to be in the AFC West. The key to do is maintain this trajectory.
They excel at embracing their strength, that is the ground game, and this is precisely what they must do versus the New York Jets at Tottenham. It will likely be a Dobbins-focused game, in essence.
The Jets have surrendered 140 yards on the ground per game (among the worst), five rushing touchdowns this season (in the bottom ten), and they are the only team without a win a game.
Ever since the league started recording takeaways in 1933, this team are also the first team to go without a single takeaway in five outings, which is kind of shocking when you think that their new coach was previously defensive co-ordinator at the Detroit Lions.
The Chiefs' QB says the Chiefs are off to a poor start after a recent loss by the Jaguars.
After this Sunday's game, Denver have a manageable slate until their break (in week 12) - the Giants, Dallas Cowboys, the Texans and the Raiders prior to the Chiefs.
Looking at their division, Kansas City are 2-3 and the Broncos are even with the Chargers on 3-2 meaning they could challenge for the top of the West.
This hinges upon which form of the Chiefs they face since the Broncos {beat|def
