Triple MVP Jokic endures a 'heartbreaking' injury to his knee.
Thrice-crowned NBA Most Valuable Player Jokic endured a "gut-wrenching" injury to his knee while the Nuggets fell 147-123 to the Miami Heat.
The Serbian center sustained the injury in the latter stages of the opening half in an accidental contact with team-mate Jones.
Jones came down on the foot of the MVP, and he immediately fell to the ground clutching his leg.
The 30-year-old, that is leading the NBA this season in rebounds and dimes, posted 21 points and eight dimes in the contest before sustaining the setback.
He is scheduled for an MRI on Tuesday to assess the severity of the problem.
"Right away, Jokic realized he was hurt," stated Denver head coach Adelman.
"Injuries are part of the game. Whoever that gets hurt, it's difficult, most notably somebody as special as Jokic. We will know more on Tuesday."
"The team will adjust together. Of course, right now, I'm more worried about him as a person and the disappointment of going through a situation of that nature."
