Slot Maintains He Feels Safe and Retains Liverpool's Backing After PSV Eindhoven Loss

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it's expected for doubts to be raised about his position following a further heavy loss against the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their 9th loss in 12 games, marking the team's worst run since being relegated in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league champions on a difficult night at Anfield.

“I feel secure, I'm fine, I've received a lot of support from management,” the coach stated.

“It would be great to turn it around and secure a win of course but if you are coaching a team and not doing well then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He noted, “I'm comfortable with my role. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a tough spot but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to elaborate on his conversations with the club's leadership, the head coach revealed:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive to the team and for me and we discuss these matters but they don’t call me constantly of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He further stated, “Through standard discussions I sense the belief. However I haven’t spoken to them after this game so far so let’s see.”

Persistent Issues and Squad Reaction

Slot expressed regret over known failings from his Liverpool side in their European defeat, namely missed opportunities and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was blunter in his evaluation of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the answers. Honestly, I don’t. I'm telling that to everyone,” Jones said.

“It’s just not good enough. I don't need to wait to think about it. I'm beyond being angry inside. I’m at the point now where I simply lack the phrases.”

He went on, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the club I love. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen Liverpool for years.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team going through a spell of this nature with results like these.”

He finished, “But we still have the emblem on our chest. And until that badge is gone, we will always compete.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad return to the top, prove once more what Liverpool stands for and why people call it the top club in the planet.”

“However currently, things are bad and we have to turn it around.”
