Performer Denies Anti-Vaccine Position Following Lending His Voice To Contentious Coronavirus Feature
The acclaimed actor has lent his narration to a feature-length documentary that challenges the legitimacy of vaccines and praises ex- health official Robert F Kennedy Jr.
The Documentary's Disputed Foundation
Called "Plague of Corruption," the project is adapted from a well-known publication co-authored by a controversial scientist, who became famous during the pandemic for claims that Covid was linked to a problematic version of the flu vaccine.
The book's collaborator, a producer, has also written books with controversial radio host Alex Jones. The producer wrote online celebrating Neeson's participation in the project.
A Firm Statement
Representatives for the actor have issued a response strongly denying suggestions that he subscribes to anti-vaccine views.
"Many recognize that unethical practices may occur within the medical sector, but that should never be conflated with opposition to vaccines," the statement explains. "Neeson never has been, and is not, anti-vaccination. His long work with the UN children's agency reinforces his long-held support for public-health initiatives."
It noted that the actor had no hand in the documentary's messaging and that concerns about its claims should be directed to the creators.
Key Themes Within the Film
In the film, the voiceover provided by Neeson makes several controversial claims:
- It suggests that pro-vaccine voices have demanded "unconditional submission" to public institutions.
- It declares that "science has become highly politicized."
- Kennedy is interviewed claiming, "The major issue with vaccines is that they just aren't safely tested."
- The film takes aim at pandemic restrictions, claiming they caused psychological harm that resulted in thousands of lives.
- Regarding pandemic shots, it references a view that they were "rushed to market" and seen as "hazardous tests."
Past Controversy and Recent Debates
The documentary includes a historical film about HIV drug testing on children, which was later the subject of a formal apology by the broadcaster for editorial breaches.
In recent weeks, the political figure instructed the Centers for Disease Control to change its longstanding position that there is no link between vaccines and autism spectrum disorder. This claim is echoed in the documentary, even with a new report from the World Health Organisation reiterating no evidence has been found.
An Earlier Statement of Advocacy
Contrasting the documentary's narrative, Neeson has in the past voiced firm endorsement for vaccines in his role as a charity ambassador.
In 2022, he described vaccines as "an incredible human success story," adding that "The discourse about vaccines in recent years has overlooked how much positive impact they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest human endeavors in our history."
The film ends with Neeson's voice proclaiming, "This isn't the conclusion of our story. This is the start of a new chapter."
