Iran Claims Strike on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Amid Widespread Military Operations.
Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Bahrain, as the country executed operations across the region in response for a "massive" and ongoing attack against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity in the area of the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any destruction is unclear and the American officials has yet to issue a statement.
Missile Defenses Activated
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - which all house US military bases - stated they have shot down incoming projectiles in their airspace.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the offensive on Iran initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That initial attack - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on sites linked to the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the Iranian people to revolt against the government.
Regional Fallout
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates stated that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems responded to the missiles with notable success and shot down a series of missiles," the statement continued.
The statement noted wreckage fell on a neighborhood in the capital, causing some structural damage and fatalities.
The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
