Grief as Renowned South African DJ Killed in Johannesburg.
A popular South African media personality and entertainer has been murdered in the country's largest city Johannesburg, causing national outrage across a country grappling with entrenched crime.
Warrick Stock, who went by the name DJ Warras, was gunned down in the downtown area on the afternoon of Tuesday.
Officials stated the 40-year-old media personality was confronted by a trio of assailants, with one opened fire on him before escaping on foot.
The reason behind the shooting remains unclear and no suspects have been apprehended are in custody, according to authorities.
How It Happened
Authorities revealed that Stock was ambushed as he was leaving a premises close to the Carlton Centre.
He had devoted time at the site overseeing the setup of security systems, which had been reportedly taken over by unidentified individuals, it was reported.
"Authorities believe the victim was confronted by three unknown suspects after parking his vehicle, and they opened fire at him before running from the location on foot," an official report said.
Surveillance tape showed a suspect with dreadlocks and wearing what resembled a security uniform firing shots on Stock before running away.
The DJ attempted to flee after he was shot but fell down a short distance away.
It was further revealed that Stock had an gun that was not fired and it was not a robbery during the attack.
Crucial forensic evidence, like bullet casings, were discovered at the location.
Appeal for Witnesses
Police have appealed anyone who saw the event who may have have information to contact them.
"We know they walked a long distance after the attack, and police have been following their trail to establish their location," remarked an authority figure.

His sister, a close relative, said the relatives are devastated to understand the tragedy.
"I am in shock. I am shattered," were her words.
"It is clear he was a representative for countless citizens. He spoke out bravely about issues not many people were ready to discuss. This is a devastating blow."
She urged the citizens to not sharing graphic images from the incident, explaining this was an incredibly difficult time, especially for Stock's children.
