The British government is prepared to move forward with using the entire amount of frozen Russian assets to bolster Ukraine's military campaign, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has stated.

In a collective announcement, the officials of the United Kingdom, the French Republic, and Germany stated that this coordinated action would escalate tension on Russian President Vladimir Putin and compel Russia to participate in talks.

They clarified that the move would be implemented in tight collaboration with the United States.

United Kingdom restrictions have immobilized more than £25bn of Russia's assets since Russia launched its comprehensive attack against the Ukrainian nation in 2022. However, up to this point, money allocated to Ukraine using Russia's assets had solely been drawn from profits and interest generated on them.

Sir Keir assured President Volodymyr Zelensky that the United Kingdom, France, and Germany were united in their aim to advance efforts toward using the complete amount of the frozen Russian sovereign funds to halt hostilities.

He added that additional sanctions soon would heighten the tension on Moscow.

This declaration is subsequent to EU officials convened in the Danish capital recently to consider utilizing immobilized Russian assets for a 140-billion-euro financial aid to the Ukrainian nation.

Last month, American leader Donald Trump encouraged Group of Seven partners to confiscate or otherwise use seized Russian holdings, as reported by news outlets.

The worth of seized Russian holdings in the European Union is calculated to be almost €211bn.

Russia launched large-scale aerial attacks throughout Ukraine on recently, causing power cuts in many areas of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv, and eight other regions.
